XP Repair/re-install problem

Soyo Dragon II board, AMD 1.6Ghz Duron, 512 mgb DDR ram. The thing
crashed waking up from sleep mode. I tried restoring the disk with
CDs made with Acronis. It says the data base is corrupt. Tried doing
an XP repair. It will not copy files from the CD. It keeps saying it
can't copy them. Can't get past 3%. If I skip the file, the next file
says the same thing. So far I have tried three different CD drives,
three different Windows XP Discs, two different hard drives, both
reformatted. Changed all the ribbon cables. Nothing changes. It still
says the Acronis is corrupt even though I verified it when it was
created. It still will not copy files from the install CDs to the hard
drive, either one.
What is going on?? Any help greatly appreciated...

Thanks for all the help. I figured it out myself finally. It was
memory compatibility issues...
