I installed the latest system update last Sunday and now Windows XP
reboots after loading mup.sys. I reinstalled XP (with SP2) using the
"repair" option but the same thing happens. I have run chkdsk, reset
CMOS. Nothing works.
Would there be any point in backing up the registry and then copying
the original registry from c:\windows\repair? If that worked I could
then copy a previous registry from the System Volume Information
folder. I just found an KB article about that -
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q307545
I'm trying to avoid installing a new copy of the OS and having to
reinstall everything, which might night even work. Any other
suggestions?
