Good Evening,

Thanks for your time.

When I tell windows to shut down, it runs through all the motions, but on
the blue screen, with the Windows logo, and the text reading "Windows is
shutting down..." it hangs. I have a cursor, and I can move it about, but
ctrl-alt-del, alt-f4, ctrl-escape etc do not work, as I would not really
expect them to. It will hang on this screen forever, until I manually turn it
off at the power socket, it does this sometimes also when restarting the
computer, using the start menu option.

It does not do this all the time, but I would appreciate some help or a
fix, as I know simply turning it off cannot be good for it.

I have two AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
A rather new ASUS motherboard (Unsure how to find out which exactly, but it
is good.)
2gb Ram
200gb Hard Drive

Its really new, actually. About two months old, which is wierd. Its had this
problem since purchase.

Thank you!

Hello,

When is the last time you scheduled and ran Chkdsk with both options
checked? Something that is wrong with the file system will cause this
problem. Before running Chkdsk, manually clean out your \Temp folders then
run Disk Cleanup. Reboot and run that scheduled Chkdsk.
Also for a good freeware clean program, and it does a lot more,I run it
daily.
is www.ccleaner.com/ as it surely sound as though your pc is working
overtime and won't shutdown until complete. Lets hope it is not sending info
out to others. Make sure you have a good Anti virus, and also Adaware
programs kept up to date. Then I am sure what thecreator as said should
correct the issue. Come back to us on this thread.
