XP Pro - USB SD Card reader - driver not found

I have 2 IBM laptops running XP Pro, SP2. I have a USB secure digital card
reader that neither laptop can find a USB driver for. The directions say
that XP will find the appropriate driver and install it. Doesn't happen.
HOWEVER, I have an IBM desktop system running XP, SP2 (NOT Pro) and it finds
and "installs" a generic USB driver for the card reader with no problems -
and it works without any problems. I'd sure like to get it recognized on the
laptops!!!

Also, all 3 systems have found and installed a generic USB driver for a
totally different type of card reader.

Well, I guess - never mind - no response to my question so I purchased
another USB card reader - kind of a crummy way to have to solve this
problem!!!!

ChipB-

I have the same problem as you. I posted a message here a day and a half
before you with similar problems. I did not get any replies either.
I went to this Newsgroup and got a reply within a half hour.

news.annexcafe.com

It was the only reply. They gave me a link:
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/WinXP/Q_20758870.html

That led me to another link: http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBM/tip6100/rh6181.htm

The second link has a possible solution but I have not had time yet or the
computer savvy to try it. If you decide to try it let me know if it works or
not.
