XP PRO ReInstallation Crash !@$&????

Guest

I recently tried reinstall winxp pro over the top of my currently installed
version using the disc which I purchased. The setup got hung up and produced
the following error:

unregmp2.exe - entry point not found
"Big red X" The entry point get IUMS could not be located in the DLL
MSDART.DLL

No matter what I do with the currently installed hard drive, bootup goes
directly into setup and hangs again at the same point. I was able to get it
to install in my previous hard-drive when I made it primary. I am worried
that if I use the file transfer wizard I am going to have the same nightmare
all over again. I want to put in a new hard drive and avoid all the
reactivation headaches if I can. However, I would really like to get Office
etc transferred over.

I would appreciate any input or ideas.

When the problem occurs, press Shift + F10 to bring up the
command prompt. Then type: taskmgr.exe in the DOS window
and press Enter. The Task Manager should be started. If
not, try to press C+Shift+ESC. In the Task Manager
program, select the error messsage window in the
application list and click "End Task". In the process
list, terminate the unregmp2.exe program. Exit the DOS
prompt window and resume the installation process.
