Unable to Reinstall XP

I decided to reinstall XP over the current version of XP
on my computer (i know, not a good idea). The install
process hangs on this error message:

unregmp2.exe - entry point not found
X The procedure entry point GetIUMS could not be located
in the dynamic link library MSDART.dll

I try to reboot with and without the XP CD only to have
the install process start again and hang up at the same
spot. I did not back up my data prior.

Can someone help?

I had the same problem and managed to complete the installation by
repeatedly and quickly clicking OK on the error message. I probably clicked
a 100 times before it carried on.

I found the solution on another web site. Strange as this
sounds, it worked. I clicked the "close" X and /or "OK"
box over and over and over again until it finally
disappeared and the install process continued. It worked
and no data was lost!

I received a reponse from Microsoft that worked.
When the problem occurs, press Shift +F10 to bring up the
command prompt. Then type taskmgr.exe in the DOS window
and press Enter. The Task Manager should be started. If
not, try to press C+Shift+ESC. In the Task Manager
program, select the error messsage window in the
application list and click "End Task". In the process
list, terminate the unregmp2.exe program. Exit the DOS
prompt window and resume the installation process.

It worked like a champ first time!
