Unable to reinstall XP

I decided to reinstall XP over the current version of XP
on my computer (i know, not a good idea). The install
process hangs on this error message:

unregmp2.exe - entry point not found
X The procedure entry point GetIUMS could not be located
in the dynamic link library MSDART.dll

I try to reboot with and without the XP CD only to have
the install process start again and hang up at the same
spot. I did not back up my data prior.

Can someone help?

FWIW

This happened to me the other day. I played with the machine for
a couple of days with no results. I don't know if it was bad drivers,
a virus or whatever. I finally gave up and wrote 0's to the disk and
reinstalled.

I actually found the solution that I read from another
web site. I clicked the OK and Close boxes over and over
and over again until the install process resumed, strange
but it worked!
