XP pro hangs when installshield gets 90% of set up complete

Hi,

My windowsXPproSp1 had been working fine, untill my
last attempt at a software install. I purchased a HP
officejetv40 all-in-one printer.
I was installing the software, when my PC hung as
Installshield got about 90% of the copy from disc process
complete. I thought it was the disc, so I tried to
install the software, for my Logitech Force3D Joystick,
when the same thing occured. There is no error message,
and I have to manually re-boot(holding in the power
button for the 5 seconds.

This happened to me once in Windows 98se and I was able
to replace the Installshield, but in the KB it states
that as XP comes with Installshield 2.0, and that
download will not work for it.

I would greatly appreciate,any help I would be given in
this matter.

Hi Rick,
Yes I did check the Temp folders, I have history killer,
it must clean those files out, as they were both empty.
Interestingly, I am able to install exe.
Programs, but not CD-ROM programs.
Any other Ideas?

Hi John,

Start/run eventvwr.msc, do the system logs show any errors related to this?
