XP Printing

I installed a new XP PC that needs to print to a Lexmark 4227-200 that is
physically attached to a PC running Win98SE. The PC's are on a network and
the printer is shared. When the job is sent to the printer, it makes the
printer go berserk. The printer display says it's out of paper, I work with
it but lights flash, and it beeps like crazy. Shutting down both PC's and
printer doesn't even clear the error. I'm not sure what I do but I can get
it working again for other users (Win98SE PC's) in about 20 minutes. The XP
PC says it's printing but I have to go in and cancel the job. I have tried
a couple of different drivers (IBM Proprinter III XL and Epson). The
Proprinter driver did cause it to print some but it went berserk again
during printing. I tested on another XP PC and it did the same thing. XP
has the 4227 driver built in. I'm not sure what to try next. I need to get
it to work in this configuration. PLEASE HELP!! Diane

I solved my own problem. XP's settings for the printer were for "auto
select tractor" I changed it to "Tractor 2" and it printed perfectly. I
haven't had to change these defaults for any printer in years. Diane
