XP plug n play drivers missing. Cant repair XP...key invalid

For some reason anything that I plug in that would normally be a plug n play
item will not work on me for my desktop computer. It is a Sony Vaio PCV-RZ22G
I am running windows XP and I believe that windows may be the problem. I not
not real computer savy but I think that maybe somehow, while cleaning up my
computer sometime, I may have deleted all of my drivers. I plugged in a
Verbatim Thumb drive that normally would be seen as a removeable drive and it
wants me to run the install wizard. I dont have a driver for it so I cant use
it. Same thing with my usb mouse, and two different printers I tried. I can't
seem to reload the computer back to its original state like when I purchased
it so a friend of mine let me borrow his windows XP cd and told me that I
could do a "wondows repair" and when it asked me for my key to just use my
own. When I used the one that is on the back of my computer on the hollogram
sticker it says that it is an invalid key. I know that the key works because
I am currently using it. I also tried the keys for 2 other computers I own
and they will not work either. Is there a way that I can get a new key that
works without having to purchase one or illegally obtain one? I figure there
has to be a way to get a new one from microsoft since I have purchased it
already when I bought the computer.

Well my probelm seems to be that I am using a legit windows XP disc, but it
will not let me load it as a repair because i am trying to use the key that
came with my computer that is for an oem install and this is not an oem disc.
Can somebody tell me how to do a xp repair if I do not have my oem disc?
