Plug and play devices.

I have just purchased a new pc with Windows XP home edition pre-installed. I
can't get my plug and play devices to work. I have a couple of USB external
hard drives and Memory sticks. When I plug them in they show in device
manager with a yellow question mark next to them. If I double click on them I
then get: The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28). I tried
clicking on re-install drivers and I'm then told to use the installation CD.
I have no problem s like this when I use these devices on my other pc or my
laptop. Can anyone help me please.
