lost mouse drivers and plug/play device

i think i have deleted my plug and play cant find it in system info or
anywhere mouse doesnt work. down loaded the correct driver but it still not
working when i go into mouse on control panel it says no hardware there.
system info says i8042prt/keyboard/mouse running. mouclass-driver/running.
sermouse/serial mouse driver stopped. i new to computers an understand
nothing but im a whizz at using a keyboard.haha. i dont want to uninstall sp2
as i dont have a xp disc to reeboot it was already on computer and i lose my
drivers so i been told is there any other way . i tried system restore and
using avg back up but it doesnt fix it.
