XP & Norton Antivirus 2004

I have used Windows & Norton for many years, however,
after recently installing Windows XP & Norton Antivirus
2004; the virus protector doesn't download the virus
definitions. It will upgrade the program files and
stop. I have tried contacting Norton but the only info I
get is "buy" or "order" another program. How do I find
out if it is incompatible with XP?

Norton Antivirus is compatible with Win Xp HE and Pro.
only way i think it doesn't want to download the virus defitnitions is
because you have selected not to when the live update process starts.

If you still can't seem to download the virus defitnitions (assuming there
are..because if there are none then it won't download them) Go to the
symantec website. http://www.symantec.com/downloads/ click on virus updates
and download them off the website

I used to have NAV but found it expensive for me because i live in NZ the
subscribtions are almost double in US currency.
It was also a drain on my cpu resources. Thats why im using AVG now. Its
free, downloads all the updates everyday and scans HDD every 24hrs. Have not
had a single problem.

If there's a problem with your NAV installation, you may
be able to correct it by deleting NAV and reinstalling it.

Hope this helps,
