xp installer caused problem with hotmail

i installed an upgrade of XP form ME and ran into a
problem with hotmail. Everytime i click on anything in
hotmail a windo appears under the heading WINDOWS
INSTALLER searching for a file named msn.msgs.msi. I
cannot go on uless i shut it down and it reoccurs every
single time a click on anything within Hotmail.

HELP!!!
 
With your anti-virus application disabled the entire time, uninstall your
current MSN Messenger version then download/install the MSN Messenger 5.0 or
higher. Version 6 is the latest.
