after new xp udgrade intallation can not funciton in hotmail

I installed an upgrade from ME to XP now every click in
Hotmail results in a windo entitled WINDOWS INSTALLER and
searching for a file called msn.msgs.msi. I cannot
proceed without cancelling the window. I search the hard
drive for the file and cannot locate it. HELP!!!
 
Did you have MSN installed on your system prior to the upgrade?
