Hi

Yes, you can upgrade from Home to Pro. It is advisable to backup your data files first, although all programs and settings should remain intact.

Thanks Will for your reply.

Is this a home machine or a works machine as I can see no
real reason to fork out that sort of money just for a few
added networking features.

Stick with home if it's doing everything you want it to
do. If it ain't broken don't fix it.

Just a brief note:

Upgrading WinXP Home (w/SP1) to WinXP Pro (w/o SP1 or 1a) is not a Microsoft
supported upgrade path.

Yes, as long as you're using a full retail or upgrade version of XP
Pro. OEM disks will not upgrade existing systems.

And be sure that you really need XP Pro before spending the money for
it. Look at these pages:

Yes - Get the Upgrade one that says it is for upgrading earlier versions
of Windows (no mention of XP home). Run it from the existing system.
But first make sure you need one of the facilities that are only in Pro.
Don't get it just because it sounds macho - apart from those extras the
systems are identical
