XP Home registry permission problems

I had problems changing the permissions for Administrators on the HKCU key.
Due to spyware, all the keys except for everyone was deleted. I had to
recreate them. But when I attempted to add full permissions for the
Administrators, it said access denied. What could be causing that?

Not exactly an answer - but XP Home does not have an Adminstrator account
per see (Whatever that means?) in normal operating mode - Administrator
functions are automatically available in safe mode.
