Registry permission error

S

I run windows xp.

I recently had some malaware but have been able to fix that problem.

My Nero stopped working. I am trying to reinstall the programme on my system.

I am getting a message saying there is an error accessing the registry.

When I go into the registry and locate the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nero - I am told that there is an error opening
the key.

When I left click to change the permissions I am told that I do not have
permissions to view the current key, but I can make permission changes. The
permissons for this key are blank - and I add myself, Administrator and
System permissions and then it states that permission changes cannot be
added. Access is denied.

I would be grateful for any help.

Are you logged in as Administrator (or one of the administrators group) when
this denial of access happens?
