I was installing norton goback when I received the error Error 1406. Could
not write value to key \CcWebWnd.ccWebWindow.1\CLSID. Verify that you have
sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
A symantec online rep told me that I didn't have the necessary permissions
to complete this install.
How can this be? This is my machine, there is no administrator.
Eventually, I was told to go to the registry editor and add certain
permissions to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key.
I understand that the registry is a very touchy and dangerous place for
amateurs.
But it seems that I need to make these adjustments in order to install my
software.
Please advise.

Thank You

If you are not confident don't do it, but you can export the key
you need to change before hacking, that way if things get ugly you
can d/click the exported key and restore [merge] the original values
back.

Thats assuming he can boot to XP. If not, he's SOL unless
he installs ERUNT which he should do.

Just my 2¢ worth. Larry

Any advise given is my attempt to show appreciation for all
the excellent help I've received here but I'm no MVP so it

Roberto,

You are the administrator. Try logging in as the administrator and
installing.
* Click Start > Run > type 'control userpasswords2', click OK
* uncheck 'Users must enter a user name & password to use
this computer', click OK, enter your password if you have one, enter it,
click OK. If not, just click OK
* Restart computer, at the Welcome screen, log in as the Administrator
