xp home hangs during install

I am trying to load Win XP Home on a AMD 266 w/196MB of
RAM. When it is installing the drivers it hangs at the
same spot every time. No errors, no warnings. It says
it has 34 minutes left. Can anyone help?

Usually installation failures of MS operating systems are because of bad
hardware. Test your RAM with Memtest86 (www.memtest86.com), allowing
the test to run an extended period of time, like overnight. If the RAM
is good, then test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility from the
mftr. If you can't do hardware diagnosis yourself, take the machine to
a good local computer repair shop (not a Best Buy or CompUSA type of
store).
