XP reinstall

I've been trying to reinstall XP on my system after a system crash that left
my system unusable.
I have the same hardware, have changed nothing outside of formating my HD.
I need to install over my full SE version since my XP installation is an
Upgrade version.
I am able to start the installation but every time I get to "34 minutes"
remaining the install hangs. I can never get past this point. When I
upgraded from SE years ago I had no such issues.

Thank you in advance,
Eric

Google is your friend. Googling for "Windows installation 34 minutes" would
have given you this well-known link straight away:

What problems are you having that you think might be resolved by
reinstalling Windows?
I need to install over my full SE version since my XP installation is an

Assuming you originally upgraded Win98SE to WinXP, have you managed to
reinstall Win98SE already and did you format your HDD beforehand?

Setup stops responding with 34 minutes remaining:

Why would the OP do that? Just insert the W98 CD when asked for update
confirmation...

What is installing when you have the error maybe you can disable the device
that is trying to be installed at 34minutes and re-enable it later. Setting
the bios to setup defaults is usaully a safe bet as well.
Make sure you aren't overclocking or doing something else which could affect
the stability of the computer system.
What caused the crash do you know?

Hope this helps

"Usually" unplug any peripherals - printer, ext harddrive , etc .
