My pc always hang and so decided to change a new bigger hard disk and do a
clean installtion. During the "installing devices" process it always hang at
34 min. Any reason why or is this a sign that parts are failing? Please
advice. Thanks a lot

It may be that your memory needs updating, the hard drive may need a
re-format, or your setup CD needs to be replaced. Check your system
requirements for your OS+ and do a little research on your new HD.
Good luck.

You all guess it right at 34 min. In fact I used a new 320gb hdd, thinking
that the mobo may not support this size, I change to 120gb, still I faced the
same problem. Ido not have spare ram to swap around.

ref kb828267 cant really make out which device is causing the problem but
will keep trying, thanks

Since I am unable to get to the log, I try to change the ram around and use a
smaller hdd (120gb), data cable etc it does not help or even make matter
worse. Now it hang at 'installing the windows' @ at 39 minutes.
Where can the problem lies......thanks

a) You do not specify what version of XP [gold,sp1,sp2].
b) You do not specify what hardware is involved [this is a hardware problem]
