Thinking that it was my hdd problem because it always goes to Sfe mode, I
change a new hdd (ide) and boot from cd and try to do the installation, After
it boots from cd and you have the "welcome setup" page, the pc seems to hang
there and give a blue screen. On the bottom right, it does not seems to
indicate that its reading. The optical drive is confirm working as when it
wasconnected to my 2nd pc, I can see /read my cd data ontent. Any idea why I
cannot install the windows? Thanks for your help.

Try running a RAM test

or substituting with known good RAM

Also how large is this new HDD? Is it over 137GB? If so, how old is this
computer? Some BIOS before 2005 can't see large HDD. Also what SP level
is this Windows install? Before SP2 (or is it SP1?) can't see large HDD
either.

Agreed with Philo and adding to that cleaning the CD from grease and finger
prints can help the lenses to read the CD and the installation can go smooth!

Or getting another/Borrow Installation media CD to perform the installation.
