XP Home freezing

Could be your Ram or your power supply or your video card.

If you have a fast processor and an AGP video card, you should have at
least a 450 watt power supply. (less will work, but at the expense of your
hardware)

Bad Ram will also cause this problem. if you have more than one dimm, try
removing one and see if it still happens. If the problem continues, put the
first one back in and remove the other one. but first make sure you have an
adequate power supply.

If none of this works, try using a different video card.

Or it is possibly your software. Have you tried a clean install of your
operating system?
