XP SP2 Freezes up my Laptop :-(

Hi, I have a Medion Cybermax MD41349 FID2130 Laptop and without XP SP2 it
works fine but soon as I install XP SP2 it keeps locking up my system :-(
Every so often it just locks up for about 5 mins and in this time the clock
loses time for every minute it locks up!?
It's getting really annoying now :-( out of about one hour on my laptop its
locked up 50 mins in total adding up the 5 min lock ups.
But if I was to unistall XP SP2 my laptop would go back to normal and work
ok with no problems at all.
I can't not install SP2 as I know it's needed, so anyone have any idea why
it locks up my system?
At the moment I just have SP1 installed after formatting my laptop to start
a fresh and see if I can get help before I do reinstall SP2.
Hope to hear from someone very soon.
Thanks :)

Hi

P3ease have a look in the Event Viewer for any 'Errors'. If any are found
could you please post the Event ID and Source?

Hi Will.
Well I dont know if this will help but here goes:.
I bought a medion Cybermax MD41349 FID2130 Laptop on ebay and had to repair
and service it before I could get it running and managed successfully to do
so, anyway I installed win xp with service pack2 and had the same problem.
Providing you have the same drivers installed for the video display this
will work.
I have the following drivers installed:

ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9100 IGP
Driver Provider: ATI Technologies
Driver Date: 30/09/2003
Driver Version 6.14.10.6396
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibilty Publisher.

INSTRUCTIONS:
go to control panel.
click on display
click on settings
click on advanced
click on troubleshoot

YOU WILL SEE A SLIDER NEXT TO Hardware acceleration.
Slide it down 1 notch and retart your system and it should sort the problem
out, it sorted mine out brilliantly!!, if it doesnt, take it down another
notch ok.

Hope this helps PM me if you want: (e-mail address removed)
PS:
What Bois version do you have?, as I am having sartup problems with mine not
saving the bios, so sometimes it boots into windows and sometimes it just
sits there with a black screen.
Let me know how you get on.
