XP hangs on agp440.sys

Hello experts,

I'm trying to fix this problem:
compaq deskpro with XP pro hangs on startop on agp440.sys.
Also in safe mode.
What can i do?

AGP440.SYS is refering to your advance graphics port,
located on your motherboard. This is your video card.
If you have installed a new agp card and have an onboard
video card, remove the agp card and connect through your
onboard device. Boot to windows and shutdown. Reinstall
the agp card and reboot.

If this is not the case and you have only one video
device, then you may be looking at reinstalling Windows.
If you try reinstalling Windows and this issue continues,
then I would expect a faulty motherboard.
