xp Freezing

Tried everything. Can't see to find the problem with my XP freezing
problem.
It does beep once when it freezes.
In the good old day if Windows freezes, I can hit the ESC key to display the
DOS window.
How do I do this in XP?
I think it must be some process or driver displaying an error message and
make the beep in the DOS window.

Have you looked in the event log to see if an error is reported?

There is nothing in the Event Log.

Indicating that the freezing must be caused by some sort of very low level
process/driver.

I guess...
