xp freeze

I have a brand new IBM T42 computer with windows xp pro. It is hanging if I
do a restart....it it will not do anything after saving settings...it just
freezes. I have to hold the button to shut it off and turn on. It will turn
on, however the restart feature does not work. what is wrong and how do I
fix? thanks

A brand new IBM computer should not have a freezing issue.
Contact IBM support as you probably have an issue related
to their hardware, possibly a defective video adapter.

I was just reading the knowledge base and it says this is a know problem to
freexe on reboot. it says to download some sort of restart for windows xp
fix...but I canot find it.

It's news to me if it is a "known problem" if a computer
freezes upon reboot....never had it happen. Which
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article describes your problem?

If this is a new computer the supplier should fix it. What do they say?
How new is the computer? You need to be careful not to invalidate your
warranty!
