HI

Could anyone help me i am going round in circles with this problem. I have
re-installed windows xp and my sound card is not working i am getting the
code 10 connection problem with the yellow sign on it. I have read and tried
too many fixes over the last month with no avail.

.. re-loaded sound card drivers
.. re-loaded chipset drivers
.. re-loaded southport drivers
.. checked that the bios is set to auto
.. re loaded everything thro msconfig

I am using an onboard device C-MEDIA AC97 SOUNCARD with a 9VIF (ES-675M) -
CHAINTECH
motherboard PM266-8233

This has come about since i re-installed xp

This is bugging the life out of me as nothing seems to be working.

Cheers

Head back to Chaintech and download the motherboard's chipset
drivers. This would help XP to see all the hardware based off the
motherboard, including the sound card.

Code 10
If the device has a "FailReasonString" value in its hardware key, that
string is displayed as the error message. The driver or enumerator
places this registry string value there. If there is no
"FailReasonString" in the hardware key, the following generic error
message is displayed:

This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not
have all the drivers installed. (Code 10)

Try upgrading the device drivers for this device.

Solution button: Update Driver

To resolve this error code, make sure the device is connected to the
computer correctly. For example, make sure all cables are plugged in
fully and that all adapter cards are properly seated. Follow the
suggested solution button and update the device driver. It may be
possible to remove the device and redetect it using the Add New Hardware
wizard.

DHCP is not required for any sound card. This is a network "service"
that will assign an IP address to your network adapter. This is
either a service included with most routers or from the Internet
service provider.
