onboard sound

My onboard sound has to have the drivers re loaded everytime I reboot the
computer. It is turned on in the bios ok. Been working for years but
suddenly something is either disabling them or removing them at shut down.
I have tried a plugin sound card but that upset my capture card drivers and
that then wouldn't work. But the sound card did....Removed that and set the
capture card back to working order.
In control panel the sound details (VIA AC'97 Audio (WAVE))are all there and
in the 'sound' window the different sounds show as working when you
highlight them and click the black arrow but there is no sound from the
speakers, or headphones. If I then reinstall the drivers all works fine
again.
Any help please

1st install or reinstall the boards chip set utility from the hardware mfg
(intel,
amd,etc),once thru,open device mgr,expand the sound tree,R.click the hardware
& select,uninstall,do all w/o restarting pc.Once thru,exit,shutdown
pc.Reinstall
sound card to another pci slot, restart pc,start in BIOS,disable on-board
sound,
save & exit..

I now don't have that sound card, I returned it to the supplier. When I put
the cd that came with the M/Bd it opens up at 'sound install' which I have
carried out, but it still disappears on next boot up. Have to do that every
time. In control panel I uninstalled the via sound and reloaded again off
the cd but still disappears at re boot
