XP DOmain login hangs at "applying personal settings". Why and how do I fix?

Hello. I just had my XP machine join the domain and now when I log in
it hangs at applying personal settings and sits there for like 2
minutes before opening my desktop. Why and how do I fix? Thanks.

Have you consulted with the domain's network administrators to
determine if a login script or Group Policy might be causing the delay?

Actually I'm working on it at home. I know it as something to do with
ponting the clients on the network to the DC for DNS and making some
kind of record but that's as much as I know. I don't really know what
to do. Thank you!
