Slow Login Before Loading Personal Settings

Hi Everyone,

We have about 1500 PC's which we are migrating from Windows 2000 to Windows
XP. We are running a piolt for a month to iron out any problems with Windows
XP and Office 2007, so curently only have about 20 PC's on our new Windows
2003 domain.

Last week all the PC's on the new domain started to take ages logging in,
you login with local or domain creds and then it just shows a blue screen for
about 20 seconds and then starts to load up the "applying personal settings".
First I thought it was profile related but it happens on every account domain
or local and the wait is before the profile has started to load. Evan happens
if I unjoin domain. It don't happen when logging directly into the DC's or
any member servers.

I have checked for viruses and spyware and nothing is found. No updates have
been applied to the PC's in the period before or since the problem started.
Also there is nothing in the event logs to suggest any problems.

Also tried UserEnvDebugLevel, problem with UserEnvDebugLevel debug reporting
is that is starts when the account settings are being applied, which it too
late to detect any problems for my issue.

I timed my login process and get the following: (Using 0x00030003)

20:57:05 Click "OK" within Username and Password Cred Box.
20:57:42 Windows appears with "Applying Personal Settings".

Contents of userenv.log
USERENV(2a0.2a4) 20:57:41:938 LoadUserProfile: Yes, we can impersonate the
user. Running as self20:50:52

Before enabling UserEnvDebugLevel I matched my computer and the computer I
was doing the tests on by using the net time command "net time \\{WRKSTA}
/SET /Yes".

Tried re-installing SP2, but still the problem still exists.

Any ideas??
