Loading personal settings

My computer hags at Loading Personal Settings. If I hit escape it
sometimes it goes past this message faster. I am not logging into a
Domain. I just have a local network with a router to the internet.

Any ideas how to speed this up?

Thanks

Hi Ron,

Obviously, if you have *a lot* of apps. loading at startup, that will
prolong things--but probably not to the extent you are talking about.
Another culprit could also be malware. Malware can be a huge drain on even
the fastest of machines. If you don't have a regular malware checking
regime, see these:

When did this problem start? Was it sudden or gradual. If sudden what
changed between the time it worked and now? Curt gave you some links for
dealing with malware. If the system is clean and it's a sudden change try a
system restore to before the problem was there. You could also do some
clean boot troubleshooting.
