We are running a network with 2 Windows 2000 domain controller and
workstaion with Windows XP sp1. A couple of days ago a Windows XP user was
unable to bring up her screen. She was allow to logon to the systme but the
screen hung at "Applying your personal setting". After greater then 10
minutes the screen appeared. But she was unable to open Internet Explorer
and use Outlook to connect to the exchange server. After variou steps (
System restore, system repair install, checking for virus) I reinstalled the
OS and the system was back to normal.
I now have another with the same symptom and I had to reinstall. Now I have
a third users doing the same. I tried using the Uphclean download with
limited success. Can logon with administrator with success but get the
"Applying your personal setting" hanging when logging on as a different
user. The same thing is happening on one of my domain controller with the
administrator account.
Thanks,
