XP clients hang browsing w2k server shares

XP PRO clients started hanging all of a sudden attempting
to browse or open files on mapped drive to windows 2000
server. Reinstalled both laptops running xp pro. All
other pc's on network, running 98se and W2K are all ok.
These laptops are dell 8600 inspirons, new. They worked
fine until lately. Now when you go to windows explorer,
select a mapped drive the system will hang then give the
not responding message then forces you to reboot/power
off laptop. There has to be a better fix then sending in
the laptop to Dells depot for repair! These laptops can
access the internet, and print to network printers.

Thanks,

Did you reinstalled Windows XP from Dell's OEM CD?
There could be an issue with a third party app or service creating a browsing conflict.
Run MSCONFIG from Start, RUN and disable the start up iterns and any services that are not need for the OS to run.
If this fixes the problem then, start enabling services until you identify the one that is creating the conflict.
