Recently, my Windows XP, when totally shut off, does a
full boot every time when the phone line where the modem
is connected to rings even ones. As far as I know, I
should not have any remote commands running...

Normally I use a PacBell DSL, but the dialup modem is
there for backup and additional access when I need to
pass by my router's firewall.

Thank you for your help.

make sure "wake on ring" and "wake on lan" are DISABLED in the bios ;-)

Thanks! I didn't remember the bios! There was no "lan"
but an enabled "Wake up on PME" Disabling that helped!
What is an PME?
Thank you!

This is the BIOS waking things up - check in BIOS setup, Power Options
for 'wake on ring' - and other possible triggers

also known as 'wake on COM1' and 'Wake on Modem'

If won't be WOL (this time), since the OP specifically said modem/phone
line.
