I have windows xp and Netzero ISP. My computer will automtically start up
from the shutdown mode when the telephone rings. The phone jack and modem
jack are plugged into the same receptable. I did not have any problems until
I installed (then later uninstalled McAfee). I did a system restore and last
know good configuration. I check the modem settings. I have not uninstalled
and reinstalled my Netzero software yet. Is my question make sense? and what
is my next course of action?

Your problem has nothing to do with XP or any software your running, as XP
is non functional when the PC is turned off, there is no way it or any
software can turn the PC on. In your BIOS setup (accessed via a key stroke
before XP starts booting, usually the delete or F1 key) Look for an option
to start the PC on Modem or com port activity and disable it.

2.13.07: I have check my BIOS and the WAKE feature has been disabled. I
have been unplugging my modem connection from the back of the computer when I
shutdown. Then I plug it back in, pick up my phone receiver and start to
dial the phone; the computer turns on. I don't know what else to check.
Please provide suggestions. Thank you.
