XP Booting requires too much time.

It takes too much time in my case even though I optimized system. Some
website introduce min. 32 sec to 45 sec. whereas I take normally 105 sec.
Could you recommend best idea, referrring to my descriptions.

Current Botting time : About 1 min. and 45 sec. from Turn-On
to starting initial taskbar icon
Machine : Fujitsu Notebook CPU P4 1.4GHz, 512Mram, 60Gb HDD
OS : WinXP Home => Media Center Upgraded.

Application installed :
.. anti-virus
.. MS Office
.. PowerDVD5 & PowerVCR II
.. RecordNow!
.. P2P
.. ...ETC(about 10 more small applications)

*** Current Problems
1. I minimized number of startup programs at registry but some of system or
application files run background. Those are system files
2. In certain case, it takes about 5 - 10 min. until all startup
programs(taskbar icons)are operational.
3. The number of taskbar icons are just 9 in all.

I would appreciate very much if a good idea is presented.

Thanks 1xa,
I can say that it is not the case, as I completely scanned with several
different applications for optimization.
How much time does it take for you, please?

Thanks again.

Are you running Media Center Edition?

You'd probably get a more accurate response in
microsoft.public.windows.mediacenter Media Center has a few extra bits and
bobs so a longer boot time could be perfectly normal.

However for it to load the first lot of applications is definitely not
right.

How did you install Media Center? I was under the impression that you
couldn't "upgrade" from a previous release of Windows XP anyway, so I take
it you're using a clean install? If you could let us know on that it would
be useful to rule out any upgrade issues.

If it started doing this recently you might also wanna try using System
Restore to restore your machine to a previous time.

Thank you very much, Smith.
After your post, I am not sure if I upgraded from XP Home or did "Clean
Install"(I forgot).
In any case, I remember that I started from low-level format. Then I did
partitioning, hi-level format, (XP Home Installation If I did), M.C.
installation, application install, scandisk, defrag ==> Ghost Image Backup.

Last month, I did low-level format as I had logical bad sector which, I
guess, came from irregular contacts between HDD pins and plastic housing.
This has no relation with dull speed.

As I explained above, I think that my installation is the best optimization
but got shocked after I read that other people can boot within one minute.

How about you, Mr.Smith?

How about you, Mr.Smith?

Did it increase after MC was installed? If so that is where you look. MC on
hardware not designed specifically for MC should expect some compromised
performance, especially in a laptop.
