Windows XP - Task bar freezing

Hi all,

i'm having a strange behavior on one of our computers.

I have Excel and some applications for the financial market (GL,
Esignal mainly) with a lot of links (DDE and RTD on the spreadsheet).

Sometimes - i couldn't find any thing that makes it happens, the task
bar just freezes, and switching applications takes too much time. ALT-
TAB still works, but when the application gots the focus, seens like
it takes 10 to 15 seconds to start reponding.. After that, this app
works OK, but when i change focus agains, the same 15 secs.

If i close the excel and reopen it, than everything works good again
for some time..

It`s driving me crazy! I can;t find any relation. i have reinstalled
the computer - same issue.

the hardware he is using now is a core 2 quad with 2 Gb RAM.

I have other users with the same worksheet and worst computers and it
dosen't happen.

Can somebody gives me an advice??

What is running in the background?

Anti-Spyware/Real Time, Automated e-mail checker, Download-Upload
Manager/Music, Updates, Automatic Save on the document(s) you are working
on, System Refresh.....

No anti-Spyware/Real time (I've disabled it to see if it was the
problem)
Outlook - But doesn't seem to be the problem (i've let it off for some
time, and the computer freezed)
No download-Upload, music
Excel was configured to save autorecovery information - I`v just
disabled it.
