Windows take up full screen covering the task bar

Everything that I open recently takes up the entire screen and covers up my
task bar. It is not the Full Screen view on all of it because I can still
access the menus. I did resize them so they would not cover the task bar,
but today they went right back to taking up the entire screen.

I don't know what changed. Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

With no programs open, right-click on an empty area of the Taskbar. Now
left-click on Properties. You will see an option to always keep the Taskbar
on top of other windows. Put a tick in the checkbox, Apply/OK out. If the
box is already checked, uncheck it and click Apply (don't OK out) and then
check it again and click Apply/OK.
