XP and Epson color 740 printer problem

I have an Epson stylus color 740 printer connected via
USB to windows XP home. The set up has worked
satisfactorily for the past 2 years. I recently installed
a CD-RW drive and since then the printer will not
operate. I have verified the printer set up via control
panel-printers and checked the port (lpt1) but I cannot
get any response from the printer. I suspect a driver
problem. Any thoughts will be most appreciated Rex

Delete the printer and unplug it from the system. Go to
Epsons web site and download the latest drivers. Shut the
computer down, plug it back up to the system and boot
system. Hopefully it will auto detect and ask for the
drivers. If system doesn't see it, you probably have a
device conflict with another piece of gear. Since it
stopped when you connected your CD/RW drive I would start
there. Good luck.
