Hi, I need to launch system restore or get into safe mode on XP as a recent
virus issue has led to my system being crippled. XP is on my 1st partition,
Vista is on my 2nd. I cannot run msconfig or any program on xp, I can only
view and open folders. I can access the same folders from vista so is there
something I can do in Vista to change something on xp that will boot it into
safe mode or launch a system restore when I next start xp up?

Regards,

Dave

Have you tried to boot XP into safe mode with the F8 key at startup? If
not, try this and select the Safe Mode with System Restore option. Or try
login on with the administrator account, you may have to press ctrl+alt+del
several times at the logon screen for the administrator prompt to appear. If
you manage to logon with the administrator account, and better yet in Safe
Mode
you may be able to restore the system or reacquire full control permissions
to your normal account, and scan for a likely still present infection.

Other than the previous options, you may have to do a repair installation of
XP cause there is nothing much you can do from the Vista OS, other than
rescue files and folders.
