Works properly in XP but not in 2K

I have a setup like as below

clients (XP & 2K)------Cisco NAT (static)-------VPN server

Once i establish VPN Tunnel with my VPN server (NATed
static address), and whn i ping from windows 2K client, i
get the reply from NATed IP Address. But if i ping from XP
client, i will get a reply from VPN server IP Address.
In Both cases, what ever ICMP reply packets, i am getting
are encrypted.

I am not able to make out what the problem could be. and i
feel XP is working properly but not 2K.
 
What are you pinging - a particular host name? Try pinging by actual ip address. You
may have a name resolution problem. If you can ping the vpn server by it's lan ip
address, then you know that there is connectivity through the vpn. The NAT device
should have logs [my cheap Netgear does] that can help determine what is going on
with traffic to it. --- Steve
