And what files might they be?

..rtf files are normally associated with Wordpad. .txt files can be
associated with wordpad, but are normally associated with Notepad.

What files are opening with Wordpad that you want to open with another
application?

To change the program that opens a file
1 Right-click the file you want to open in a different program, and then
click Properties.
2 On the General tab, click Change.
3 Click the name of the program in which you want the file to open.

Note
* This change affects all files that have the same file name extension as
the file you selected. For example, if you change the program that opens aa
..rtf file, all .rtf files will open in this program.

* You can also change the program that opens a file by right-clicking the
file, clicking Open With, and then clicking the program name. If the program
you want is not displayed, click Browse.

When you double-click a file ,Windows uses something called an "association"
to determine what program to open it with. An association is a connection
between a file's extension (the last three characters of its name, after the
dot) and a program. Associations are created when you install some programs,
and can also be created or changed manually.

So, for example, when you install .Microsoft Excel, an association is
created between files ending in .xls and Excel. From then on, .xls files
will be opened in Excel.

What are the files that open in WordPad? Specially, what extension(s) do
they have? What program do you want to open them in, if not WordPad?
