Word Pad. don't know what "type" they are...am not very good w/computers

Might be the case. You can determine the file extension by right-clicking
the file and choosing Properties. The extension will be specified there.

i think it's an"RTF" file...does that sound right?

it appears my "word pad" program has Disappeared off my computer. how do i
reload it?

Type in Start, Run:

%programfiles%\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe

This launches WordPad (if the executable is present)

Which mail client are you using? In case the file attachment arrived as a
text encoded file, then you need to decode it. The following third-party
utilities can divide and/or reintegrate a text encoded file into its binary
format:

. Decode Shell Extension (Funduc Software)

. e-ttachment Opener (DataViz, Inc.)

. Wincode (Snappy Software)

. WinZip (Nico Mak Computing, Inc.)

Additional copy of Wordpad.exe wll be available in the
C:\Windows\System32\DllCache folder. Copy it to the following path:

C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories

If that does not help, insert your Windows XP CD-ROM (with Service pack
integration) and then type the following command in Start, Run dialog:

rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\Windows\Inf\wordpad.inf,
MSWordPad

If you have the setup files dumped in the hard disk, then mention its path
when prompted. The above command attempts to reinstall WordPad.

Open the Target folder, and right-click on an empty area. Choose Paste.
