Word Pad cut and pase and inbeds don't work

When trying to add pictures etc. in Word Pad whild using Windows XP Pro.

Pictures show up as place holders only.
I have tried Cut and past, Paste Special, using the drop down and selecting
the type of file. I have copies of the picture saved as; BMP, JPG, PSD and
several other types. The cut and paste was tried directly from the file at
it's location.

Print preview and printing, prints the place holder and not the pictures.

Hven't been able to add any other type in the drop down list either.

Microsoft FAQ's has virtualy nothing about Word Pad, not even how to
reinstall / uninstall for repairs.

Can any one help ?

Open Paint, and open the picture, select it and copy, open wordpad and
paste.

This is using cut and paste which I mentioned does not work. However I
tried it using Paint. Previously used Photoshop 7, Printshop Deluxe and
Corel Photopaint.

Using copy command in paint copies to same place as cut and paste (copying
to clip board). Again when putting in to Word Pad, it just puts in the place
holder (box with bounding handles and a small icon).

I've right clicked, double clicked and many other types of trying to
actually change the box, but nothing I have tried seems to work.

Thanks for giving me an another option.

I installed Jarte and can now use most major file formats for graphics.
It appears that ClipBoard was modified by security up grade from Microsoft
and it inhibits cut and paste on some computers.
