Workshop passed i-pads or iPhones

I will be attending a 'workshop' of about 30 people communicating with a company elsewhere via individual i-pads or iPhones, supplied by the organisers of the event. I do not own an i-phone/pad.
Do any of you know of any good reliable i-pad/phone apps etc that will translate whatever they are saying into text for me, please?
