Word 2003 - Customized outline numbering in the appendix of the do

I have a document that had standard outline numbering...
1
1.1
1.1.1
1.1.2
1.2
1.2.1
2
etc.
In the appendix, I need the numbering to be...
A.1
A.1.1
A.1.1.1
A.1.1.2
A.2
etc
Does anyone have instructions on how to format the styles to accommodate
this customization?
