I am looking for some advanced instructions on creating styles for an outline
numbering system for the appendices of a document. I need the document to
assign sequential lettering to the each appendices and then have an outlined
numbering system for the appenidx using the designated appendix number as the
first charcter in the outline numbering system. For example:

Appendix A
A.1
A.1.1
A.1.2
A.1.1.1
A.1.1.2
A.2
A.2.1
Appendix B
B.1
B.1.1
B.1.1.1
B.1.1.1.1
B.1.1.1.2
B.2
B.2.1
ETC.

I am able to get the systeles formatted for marking the appendices A, B, C,
D....
I an unable to get beyond A.1, B.1, C.1 in the numbering system. Does
anyone know if any instructions exist?

You sent me that link last time. I need something more advanced. The
document that I am working on uses Heading 1 - 9 already. I need to create
outline numbering to the equivalent level of Heading 5 in the appendix with
the first character being the letter of the associated appendix. That
document doesn't help with this.

HELLO SAMMY i HAVE THE SAME SITUATION GOING ON..DID YOU RECEIVE ANY
ASSISTANCE, IF SO PLEASE SEND ME THE TIP..THANKS CRISSY

I haven't found anyone with a solution. I've tried customizing the styles
and word just doesn't seem to like the more advanced outlining numbering.

You can create a new outline-numbered list linked to different styles, but
you won't be able to use these styles for the "Include chapter number"
feature in captions or page numbers, if that is one of your requirements,
since only Word's built-in heading styles can be used for that.
