All my .mpg files are now playing in a dark 2-tone
images. Its like its 8bit, 16colors. Its very horrible, i
have tried installing new codecs, re-installing wmp9,
plus much more, please help.

open control panel>administrative tools>event viewer-see here for
application error logs.
Update the video driver.
